Greek Yogurt with lots of Fresh Fruit
It begins at 3pm everyday when my stomach wants goodies. Although today, since they tell me I’m a senior and I need to pay attention to my intake, I say alright, as long as my ice-cream is in the freezer and I eat it on the weekends, which I do, I’m happy. I blame this on my Dad because he loved Ice-Cream and turned all of us kids onto it! My dog also loved ice-cream. We would give him the empty container and he would lick away! It was funny. Can you imagine, a dog loving ice-cream!
After college when I went to the gym daily, my stop on the way home was the Dairy Barn to pick up a pint of ice-cream and sour cream potato chips! When you’re 22yrs old, and eat everything you want, working out justified my relationship with ice-cream and potato chips! I don’t eat the chips anymore, they do nothing for me, I just want my ice-cream! I’m like a kid with this stuff, Yummy! Here’s a secret, I make my own Ice-Cream so it’s healthy, right?
The doctors tell me to eat lots of fruit and that yogurt is good for you. I choose greek yogurt, although regular yogurt is yummy as well. That’s me, you should talk to your doctor to see what’s best for you, I’m not a health care professional, I’m just and ice-cream lover!, Greek yogurt is my choice and lots of fresh fruit and nuts or whatever I think is healthy goes on the top then my belly is happy. I even add Honey!
Here’s what Google says about Greek Yogurt:
-
- Increased Muscle Mass & Satiety: It packs nearly double the protein of regular yogurt (up to 20 grams per serving), which stabilizes your appetite and helps build muscle.
- Improved Gut Health: It is rich in live and active cultures (probiotics) that balance your microbiome, aiding digestion and supporting immunity.
- Stronger Bones: A single cup provides a significant portion of your daily calcium needs, essential for maintaining bone density and preventing osteoporosis.
- Heart & Blood Sugar Support: Nutrients like potassium and magnesium help relax blood vessels and lower blood pressure. Regular consumption is also linked to a lower risk of type 2 diabetes.
- Easier Digestion: Because the straining process removes most of the whey, it contains much less lactose, making it easier to tolerate for people with mild lactose sensitivity.
For maximum health benefits, opt for plain varieties. Flavored yogurts often contain added sugars. You can customize your yogurt naturally by stirring in fresh berries, nuts, or a drizzle of honey.
